Academy funding for Ultrafast Data Production with Broadband Photodetectors for Active Hyperspectral Space Imaging
Professor Zhipei Sun from Aalto University received funding from the Academy of Finland for the project on Ultrafast Data Production with Broadband Photodetectors for Active Hyperspectral Space Imaging. The funding was ganted for the call ICT 2023: New ICT Solutions for Space Industry and Sectors Utilising Space-Based Data LT and the funding period is from 2021 to 2023.
The research focuses on hyperspectral LiDAR methods are an important part of the portfolio of space-based mapping and imaging methods in applications such as agriculture and forestry, urban research, environmental research, and space research and technologies. The goal of this project is to develop high-quality photodetectors as well as compact spectrometers for ultrafast data generation in active hyperspectral space imaging applications. Photodetectors and their integrated space-based LiDAR systems being developed as part of this FAST project are expected to have the potential to revolutionize existing optical space-focused applications.
