Active Photonic components
This research focus area is an expansion of the 2019-2021 research on “Advanced laser sources”. the Active photonics components research is at the interface between the material and structures science research areas and the applications targets in applied research and quantum technologies. During the first phase of the project, the joint efforts have been primary directed to the development of novel light sources for applications in sensing and LIDAR. This WP is now expanded to include a larger area of emerging photonic components originally developed from light field control and materials and structures research focus areas, and which are now more mature to be pushed towards concrete applications. In particular, the developed PICs technologies will allow addressing a broader range of applications in the expanded spearheads in applications. This research focus areas will also support the newly added quantum technologies via the research on cryogenic optoelectronic components.
