New Doctoral Researchers to start soon in the Innovative Doctoral Education Ecosystem for Photonics (I-DEEP)

In the new pilot, 72 new doctoral researchers in the Innovative Doctoral Education Ecosystem for Photonics (I-DEEP) will start on August 1, 2024, or January 1, 2025. The aim is to select all the new doctoral researchers in the spring. Selections are currently ongoing.

I-DEEP includes all Finnish universities with research activities in light-based technologies.

Photonics research with a close link to industry

The I-DEEP programme addresses the urgent need for training high-level experts in the rapidly growing photonics industry. I-DEEP has close connections with Photonics Finland and the national research center VTT, as well as a network of industrial partners. This allows PhD students to have contacts to the photonics ecosystem during their studies. The curriculum is designed to address the rapidly changing needs of the sector, ensuring that the graduates are adapted to the development of the field.

Based on top-notch photonics research and infrastructure

The I-DEEP consortium is based on recognized world-class photonics research activities and it capitalizes on the established collaboration of the PREIN Flagship for Photonics Research and Innovation and the FinnLight photonics national infrastructure.
