Quantum Technologies (WP5)

Over the last decades, quantum technologies have grown from fundamental research demonstrations to ready-to-use applications with an ever-growing industry composed by start-up companies as well as global technology leaders. At the forefront, various PREIN activities push forward the latest Finnish quantum photonics research and technological developments, backed by significant national and European funding agencies like the Research Council of Finland’s Center of Excellence in Quantum Technology and the EU Quantum Flagship. Amongst many different aspects of this exciting branch of photonics, the consortium studies fundamental quantum optics effects connected to complex states of photons, investigates novel platforms for the enhanced generation and manipulation of quantum states, develops advanced schemes for novel sources of single and multiple photons, pushes forward photonics integration also in the quantum regime, and applies the obtained results to quantum sensing, imaging, communication, and computation technologies.
