The photonics student organisations arrange both study-related events and extracurricular activities. They provide a way to network and connect with other photonics students, Finnish and international in your home university and in other universities in Finland. All the PREIN partner universities have a student chapter for photonics students and there are photonics student chapters also in other Finnish universities. The student chapters are affiliated with different international associations such as the Society for Optics and Photonics SPIE, the Optical Society, Optica and the European Optical Society EOS. They collaborate with each other and welcome all photonics students from bachelor’s to doctoral levels.

EOS Finland Student Club

The purpose of the European Optical Society, EOS student club is to promote the discipline of optical sciences and optical engineering among students. In addition, the student club collaborates closely with industry and academic institutes to support students in continuing their study in optics and photonics and start a successful career by establishing interaction between students, senior researchers, companies and representatives from industry. All students studying optics related courses are welcome to join as members of the students’ club from all universities in Finland.

President: Isaac Doughan

The European Optical Society is a non-profit society, and an umbrella organization for all national optical societies around Europe, but there are members all over the world. The EOS invites student members to join or create their own EOS Student clubs. These clubs serve all photonics students in order to get new contacts, exchange their experiences and discuss their concerns. EOS Student club members are encouraged to meet, organize or participate to events, propose visits of laboratories or companies from their country.
