Heikki Holmberg, Research and Development Director, Okmetic Oy
Doctor of Technology Heikki Holmberg is Director of Research and Development at Okmetic Oy, a world-leading supplier of tailor-made, high-value-added silicon wafers based in Vantaa, Finland. He has held various management positions in semiconductor industry, with expertise in R&D, project management, and ecosystem collaboration. One of his current responsibility areas is cooperation with Universities and RTO and education related coordination for the Semiconductor branch of Technology Industries of Finland’s group.
Suvi-Tuuli Akkanen is a PhD Student in Photonics at Aalto University and the President of Aalto Optica Student chapter.
Jyri Hämäläinen is Vice President (research) of Aalto University. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Oulu, in 1992 and 1998, respectively. From 1999 until the end of 2007 he was a Senior Specialist and Program Manager in Nokia. Hämäläinen was appointed as a professor at Aalto University in 2008 and he was tenured in 2013. During 2015 to 2023, Hämäläinen served as the Dean in the Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering. Hämäläinen is an author or co-author of 240 scientific publications and 37 US patents or patent applications.
Leena Pöntynen, Director of skills and competence in Technology Industry of Finland
Leena Pöntynen is Technology Industries of Finland’s Skills and Competence Director, responsible for skilled workforce, immigration and the attractiveness of the technology sector. Pöntynen has worked as a teacher, principal, education leader and lobbyist in two advocacy organisations. During her 6 years in Technology Industries of Finland, she has been serving as chairman and vice-chair in national foresight and as vice chair of the national STEM advisory board.
